Warriors find peace through music.
What is Willy Pete Music Program (WPMP)?
The Willy Pete Music Program offers FREE programs that help the military community experience MUSIC as a pathway to wellness, connection, and healing.
Why does WPMP exist?
Many in the military community carry stress, transition, grief, injury, isolation, and invisible weight. For some, those struggles become severe. The VA reports that an average of 17.5 veterans died by suicide each day in 2023, and many veterans also face overlapping challenges such as PTSD, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and TBI. WPMP exists because wellness matters long before someone reaches a breaking point, and music can become a real source of connection, expression, and forward movement.
We believe music can help people reconnect with themselves, with others, and with a sense of purpose. It can calm, strengthen, inspire, and open the door to real connection. And when people engage with music in meaningful ways, something shifts. They are reminded they are not alone. They find new ways to express what words cannot carry. They begin to move forward with hope.
How does WPMP work?
Through free songwriting, instrument instruction, music-based wellness activities, Music Therapy and live performances, WPMP creates opportunities for people to engage with music in ways that meet them where they are. Some come to listen. Some come to create. Some come to learn and grow as music makers. In every case, music becomes a tool for expression, encouragement, and well-being.
WPMP is open to the U.S. military community, including active duty, veterans, Guard, Reserve, and military family members. No musical experience is required.
